What is RPA migration and consolidation?

RPA migration moves existing automations to a different RPA platform, a new major version or a cloud deployment. Consolidation reduces several RPA tools, often inherited through mergers or departmental buying, to one or two. Both involve inventorying bots, retiring unused ones, redesigning rather than copying where it helps, rebuilding or converting, regression testing and cutting over in waves. TechTiera migrates between UiPath, Automation Anywhere, SS&C Blue Prism, Microsoft Power Automate and Tungsten RPA.

What does TechTiera deliver for RPA migration?

Advice, build, migration and 24x7 operations from one accountable team.

Estate inventory

Every bot catalogued with owner, volume, value, run history and dependencies.

Retire or migrate decisions

Unused or low-value bots retired; processes redesigned where a better approach exists.

Conversion and rebuild

Automations rebuilt on the target platform using shared libraries and current best practice.

Parallel run and reconciliation

Old and new bots run side by side and outputs compared before cut-over.

Licence transition

Licence overlap planned to avoid paying twice for longer than necessary.

Decommissioning

Old servers, accounts and credentials removed cleanly and documented.

Expertise

How TechTiera approaches RPA migration

Five rules for a clean RPA migration

  1. Retire before you migrate. Every inventory we run finds bots nobody uses.
  2. Do not copy bad design. Converting a fragile bot gives you a fragile bot on a new platform.
  3. Use APIs the old bot could not. Target platforms often have connectors that remove UI steps entirely.
  4. Run in parallel long enough to reconcile outputs across a full business cycle, such as month-end.
  5. Plan the licence overlap from the start, so the business case is not eaten by double running.

Typical use cases

  • Blue Prism to UiPath
  • Automation Anywhere v11 to Automation 360
  • Kofax RPA to Tungsten or another platform
  • Post-merger RPA consolidation
  • On-premises to cloud orchestration
Delivery approach

How is the work delivered?

  1. DiscoverProcess, volumes, rules, exceptions and value.
  2. DesignSteps per tool: API, bot, document AI, agent, person.
  3. BuildReusable components in short demoable sprints.
  4. TestHappy paths, exceptions and failures with real data.
  5. DeployControlled release, hypercare and a runbook.
  6. Run and improveROC monitoring and value reporting.

FAQs

RPA Platform Migration and Consolidation FAQs

Can bots be converted automatically between RPA platforms?

Conversion tools can speed up parts of a migration, but most bots need redesign and retesting to be reliable on the new platform. We use tools where they help and rebuild where they do not.

How long does an RPA migration take?

It depends on the number and complexity of bots. Migrations run in waves, and each wave typically takes several weeks including parallel running and reconciliation.

Should we consolidate onto one RPA platform?

Usually onto one primary platform, sometimes with a second for Microsoft-centric or platform-native automation. Consolidation reduces licence, infrastructure and skills costs.
