Content Migration: frequently asked questions
Short, direct answers to the questions buyers ask most. Need more detail? Ask an expert
How do you ensure no content is lost during an ECM migration?
Every item is tracked from export to import, validated with checksums and reconciled against source counts and metadata. Exceptions are logged and resolved before sign-off.
Can metadata, versions and audit history be migrated?
Yes. DocOrbit migrates documents with their metadata, version history, renditions, permissions and, where the target supports it, audit trails, using mapping rules agreed during design.
Which platforms can you migrate from and to?
Sources and targets include OpenText Documentum, OpenText Content Server and Extended ECM, IBM FileNet, Alfresco, OnBase, SharePoint and Microsoft 365, Box, M-Files and file shares. Other connectors are available on request.
How long does a content migration take?
Duration depends on volume, complexity, data quality and cutover constraints. After an assessment we provide a wave plan with timings based on trial migration throughput.
