Microsoft 365 migration services move email, files and documents from other systems into Microsoft 365: mailboxes from Google Workspace, on-premises Exchange, Lotus Notes or IMAP servers into Exchange Online, and files and documents from file shares, cloud storage or enterprise content management systems into SharePoint Online and OneDrive. File and content migration to SharePoint and OneDrive

File migrations fail on details: path length, blocked characters, permission models that do not translate, and decades of duplicates. We analyze first, clean up, then migrate:

  • Pre-migration analysis: volume, file types, path lengths, invalid characters, last-accessed dates, duplicates and permission complexity.
  • Target design: folders mapped to sites and libraries with metadata, not recreated as deep trees.
  • Permission mapping: NTFS and source ACLs mapped to Microsoft 365 groups and SharePoint permission levels.
  • Delta migrations: initial bulk copy followed by incremental passes so cut-over takes hours, not days.
  • Throughput management: scheduling around SharePoint throttling limits with Migration Manager agents or tool-specific scaling.

Migration Services FAQs

How long does an email migration to Microsoft 365 take?

For 1,000 mailboxes, planning and pilot typically take 3 to 4 weeks and migration waves another 3 to 6 weeks, depending on mailbox size, coexistence needs and network throughput.

Can we migrate from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 without downtime?

Yes. Mail is pre-staged before cut-over and synchronized with delta passes. The MX record change happens at a planned time, and users typically see their mail, calendar and contacts in Outlook immediately.

Will permissions be preserved when moving file shares to SharePoint?

Permissions are mapped, not copied blindly. We translate source access groups to Microsoft 365 and SharePoint groups, simplify where possible and report any exceptions before migration.

Can you migrate from OpenText Documentum to SharePoint?

Yes. TechTiera has decades of Documentum experience and uses its DocOrbit platform to migrate documents with metadata, versions and audit history into SharePoint content types, validating every object with checksums.

What is a tenant-to-tenant migration?

It moves users, mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams from one Microsoft 365 tenant to another, usually after a merger, acquisition or divestiture, including domain transfer and identity mapping.

How do you prove nothing was lost?

Every wave produces reconciliation reports comparing item counts and sizes between source and target, and DocOrbit adds SHA-256 checksum validation per document.
